I paint flowers so they will not die. Frida Kahlo
Nature holds a quiet, steady power to mend the human spirit. Rebecca Swanson “paints” her Portraits of Nature with a camera, exploring the delicate form of flowers. This work explores how natural beauty anchors our wandering minds and brings peace back into our lives. Flowers are not only pretty; they are strong, resilient, and a symbol of rebirth and deep healing.
Rebecca studied drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture at the Cleveland Institute of Art and moved to New York to work as a textile designer. Her photographs can be found in hospitality and corporate collections including Banana Republic, St. Regis, Marriott and Omni hotels and in hospitals throughout the country. She has photographed gardens for Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project. Private collectors include Ina Garten “The Barefoot Contessa” and many others. Her utopia is New York City’s botanical gardens as well as inspiration from her travels around the world.
